Stick a feather in your hat and call it real estate for sale signs

Sounds like I have gone a little crazy doesn't it? Why did Yankee Doodle do that anyway? My guess would be he was really just trying to attract attention. And it seems to have worked because we have been singing that song for generations!

Real Estate is a highly competitive business and trying to get noticed can be quite a task. Real estate outdoor signage is important to advertise your listings, but do they really create interest and help people to remember your name? Chances are your signs are being lost in the crowd. So, now you need to find a way to attract attention. Everyone is trying new ways to create interest (or freshening up old ways), but most fall into a very predictable pattern. Finding an unusual idea may be difficult. That's why I am here. As someone told me I have a "weird imagination". They meant it as a compliment and I took it that way. I decided to put my weirdness to work and help you find unusual ways to attract attention. This will help make your real estate for sale signs get noticed, once potential clients relate the two.

So, without further ado, let's get weird!

"Weird" just might get your real estate for sale signs noticed

  • Work with your competition - Start a chapter of an association in your area. Work with your competitor to get it started. Cooperative efforts can help generate more leads, as well as cause stir. After all consumers don't typically expect competitors to work together
  • Become a celebrity - Put together a podcast that educates your potential clients. If they feel you want to be helpful, they will be more willing to go to you.
  • Sell your customers two - No, not two houses! But if you work with a business that that offers a service helpful to new homeowners you may be able to sell both. Businesses to consider would be interior decorators, home improvement services, heating and air conditioning services, etc
  • Make the Guinness Book of World Records - ok, so it doesn't have to be quite that dramatic, but do something newsworthy. You could sponsor an event, support a charity, or any number of things. You may want to make sure that it is something legal though!
  • Become a famous author - or at least write an Ebook or article that gives useful information. You could write about anything that would relate to real estate. Potential clients appreciate useful information. It could be a free gift to potential clients for contacting you via your web site.
  • Become a philanthropist - for a specific period of time offer to donate to a clients favorite charity, in their name, when they purchase a home.
  • Hire a dummy - this is more geared to your brick and mortar store than to a home you are listing (unless there is an agreement) Get a mannequin and set it up to be the sign holder advertising your store. Set it in front of your store. It will create quite a stir in the area and give you a chance for a little self promotion
  • Make a long term commitment - no, I don't mean that kind! Many times a gift basket or something similar is given when a client purchases a home. Instead of the obligatory basket, let them choose a membership to one of a variety of something of-the-month clubs that you have selected in advance. You can choose just one club, but I would recommend having a few choices for them to select from.

These are just a few ideas that you can run with. If you happen to have a weird imagination like mine you may be able to think up some others. If so I would love to hear about them! Make sure that anything you do to create the interest gives you an opportunity to promote your business. Don't forget to set out your real estate coroplast or metal signs. They are still an important part of your marketing. And now I must find my macaroni and decorate my hat.
